LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Children ages two to 10 got dressed in their finest formal wear for a “Pee Wee Prom” in Lynchburg.
Parents were able to let their kids experience a night of dancing, singing, and snacking at Gr8 Pl8 cafe along Kemper Street.
The prom is hosted every year to raise funds for the We Are The Village Foundation Inc.
The non-profit supports Lynchburg families with kids by providing activities and a pantry with food and clothing. Donations from the prom will go towards continuing their work.
“This is what we do for the kids, so they can dress up and come out and have a good time. Our theme this year is Cocomelon. Last year we didn’t get to have it, and the year before that was Baby Shark,” said Lisa Waller, a member of the foundation and organizer.
The foundation hosts camps and other events during the year. It’s open Thursday through Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m. During those times, the foundation allows kids to come in to do their homework, use Wi-Fi, play games, and take whatever they need from the food pantries.
