LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — A beauty, personal care, and home care solutions company in central Virginia will be laying off people next year.
According to Virginia Career Works, layoffs for KDC/One in Lynchburg will begin in January 2023.
WFXR News spoke with the vice president of global communication with KDC/One, Michael Salizillo, who says the company will slowly phase down operations in Lynchburg by the end of 2023. According to Salizillo, the timeline for the layoffs to begin has not been determined as of yet, and once complete the company will be shut down.
This decision came after a regular evaluation of its operations.
The main focus will now be to make the transition as easy as possible for the workers impacted, Salzillo tells WFXR News. The company says that the slow process is to help give workers ample warning, but is providing incentives for workers who stay on the job as needed.
KDC/One will be working with Virginia Career Works Rapid Response team to help with future placement for displaced workers with career counseling and educational support.
KDC/One makes beauty and personal care products. In 1919, a building was constructed and then the company took over the plant in 207.
