BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Several complaints to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office by local citizens who reportedly have had items taken from their vehicles prompted an investigation.

The incidents took place in the Farmington subdivision in the Forest area of Bedford County.

In the overnight and early morning hours of Saturday, April 2, items were taken from vehicles in the area – including money, gift cards, credit and debit cards, electronics and firearms.

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office says these incidents took place between the hours of 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. Saturday morning.

During an investigation with law enforcement agencies – including the Lynchburg Police Department – they determined that the individuals, in this case, were also the target of a stolen vehicle investigation being conducted by the City of Lynchburg.

Through a joint effort, a search warrant was obtained and served at a home in Lynchburg where stolen property that belonged to a victim in Bedford County was found.

As a result, multiple juvenile suspects have been identified and charges are pending.

An investigation into each person identified for allegedly stealing items is ongoing.

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is asking residents of the Farmington subdivision with either security or doorbell cameras to review the footage between the late-evening hours on April 1 and the early-morning hours on April 2 and share any footage that may be relevant to their investigation.

They are recommending all citizens to lock their vehicles and secure belongings in an area where they are not visible – especially items that are high-value.

If you have any information about any of the incidents, you are asked to contact Central Virginia Crime Stoppers at 1-888-798-5900. Crime Stoppers callers can remain anonymous and could receive a reward of up to $1,000.
