LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Police in Lynchburg are investigating a Thursday night shooting at Maple Ridge Apartments that took place shortly before a shooting victim arrived at the hospital.
The Lynchburg Police Department says officers responded to a 911 call shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1 about gunfire at 600 Reusens Road.
When they arrived at the scene, police say multiple witnesses reported that someone had been shot and had left the area. In addition, witnesses told authorities that three masked individuals fired the shots and then left in a dark-colored vehicle.
A short time later, the department tells WFXR News that an officer at the Lynchburg General Hospital ER reported that a man had arrived with a gunshot wound to the leg, but he is expected to recover.
At this time, officials say they have no information about the suspects.
