LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) – It was a sea of pink inside of River Ridge Mall in Lynchburg on Saturday. It was all part of this year’s “I Pink I Can” breast cancer awareness event.
One in eight women in the U.S. is said to develop breast cancer in the court of their lifetime. Men can also contract breast cancer.
The event on Saturday, Oct. 2 celebrated breast cancer survivors, provided a remembrance to those who have lost their battle, and served as support for people who are still fighting.
Money raised from this event will benefit the Centra Alan B. Pearson Regional Cancer Center.
“Good Day Virginia” anchors Charmayne Brown and Amanda Kenney were there as emcees, but more importantly, were among the WFXR team members supporting one of our own, who is currently fighting breast cancer.
