LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — This was one of the toughest Mother’s Day weekends for one Lynchburg family.

The funeral service for 48-year-old Lisa Tanner was held the afternoon of Sunday, May 9.

Tanner was struck by a train and died in Campbell County on April 26. Virginia State Police say she was hit while walking on the edge of the tracks near the Norfolk Southern Six Mile Bridge along the James River.

The service was held at Community Funeral home in Lynchburg.

Her friends and family say Tanner was one of the nicest people you will ever meet.
