Firefighter injured, 2 dogs die in house fire, Moneta Fire Department says

MONETA, Va. (WFXR) — Bedford County fire officials are investigating a house fire that injured a firefighter and killed two dogs on Monday afternoon.

According to the Moneta Volunteer Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the scene around 2:45 p.m. on Monday, April 12 for a possible residential structure fire.

When crews arrived, they found a large column of black smoke coming from the structure.

A tanker task force was requested to help with water supply to fight the blaze.

The department says two dogs died in the fire and one firefighter was brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Bedford County Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the fire.
