LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Firefighters found themselves battling a blaze at a duplex home in Lynchburg on Friday.

Members of the Lynchburg Fire Department say they got several calls on Friday, July 1 about smoke and flames on the roof and determined a fire broke out in the attic, spreading to both sides of the home.

The battalion chief told WFXR News that nobody was injured, adding that one unit was unoccupied at the time of the incident, but both units will be unlivable for a while due to smoke, fire, and water damage.

The American Red Cross is helping the people affected by the blaze while the fire marshal’s office works to determine the cause.

According to first responders, battling fires at this time of year is hard due to the heat inside and outside, so they’re careful about staying hydrated and rotating crews.
