UPDATE 10:40 — Virginia State Police Trooper M.A. Daulton is investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash in Campbell County that occurred on Sept. 30, around 10 p.m. in the 2200 block of Bishop Creek Road.

According to officials, Dylan B. Covington,19 — from Lexington, Va. — was traveling west on Bishop Creek Road when a tree fell across it. Covington, who was driving the 2008 Toyota Corolla, ran off the road.

He was wearing his seatbelt; however, he died on the scene.

The weather conditions during the time of the crash were determined to include heavy rain and strong winds.

A second tree fell while state police were on the scene investigating the crash. No one was reported to have been injured by the second tree.

The crash remains under investigation.



CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred during the storm last night.

VSP says the crash occurred at approximately 10 p.m. in the 2200 block of Bishop Creek Road in Campbell County. Troopers say a 2008 Toyota Corolla was traveling west on the road when a tree fell across it causing the car to run off the road. The adult male driver passed away at the scene.

The weather reported at the time of the crash was heavy rain and strong winds that caused another tree to fall in the area. VSP says no one was hurt by the second tree.

The crash is still under investigation by Trooper M.A. Daulton of the Virginia State Police.
