LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Lynchburg law enforcement are looking for a suspect in connection with an early morning stabbing that sent a person to the hospital on Tuesday.

Sgt. Johnson with the Lynchburg Police Department told WFXR News a call came in at approximately 2:08 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6 about suspicious activity in the 800 block of Pierce Street, but it turned out to be a malicious wounding.

When officers arrived at the scene, Johnson says they found a nonresponsive man with a stab wound that appeared to be life-threatening.

However, after the man was brought to the hospital, his condition reportedly improved, with Johnson saying police now have a “cooperative witness,” thanks to the hospital staff.

Even though police are currently searching for a suspect in connection with the stabbing, Johnson says, the identity of that suspect will not be released at this time.

According to Johnson, police believe this is an isolated incident that does not pose a threat to public safety.
