Police look for individuals involved in drive-by shooting Friday afternoon in Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The Lynchburg Police Department is searching for those involved in a drive-by shooting that took place near Second and Pollard Streets Friday afternoon.

According to the department, officers responded to the 1800-block of Park Avenue after an individual reported a car being shot several times at approximately 4:51 p.m. on Friday, July 2.

After police arrived, they were able to determine that a man driving in the area of the shooting around 4:40 p.m. observed a compact four-door sedan, either gray or tan in color, was occupied by four men wearing bandanas over their faces.

One of the occupants in that vehicle was said to have had a firearm. As the man continued to drive, at least one of the occupants in the suspect vehicle discharged his firearm, striking the victim’s vehicle numerous times. The vehicle involved was last seen heading north on Fifth Street.

No one was injured in the shooting, but a car and a vacant house was hit by gunfire.
