UPDATE 10:26 a.m.: Virginia State Police confirm that one person is dead after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 29 in Campbell County Tuesday morning.

According to officials, state troopers responded a collision between a tanker truck and a sedan on U.S. Route 29 near Grannys Lane shortly before 6:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 25.

The Virginia State Police Appomattox Division’s Crash Reconstruction Team is reportedly helping with the ongoing crash investigation. 

Meanwhile, VDOT says the northbound right lane and right shoulder are still closed at U.S. Route 29 near Brentwood Lane because of the crash.

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Tuesday morning motorists may run into some delays in Campbell County due to a tractor-trailer crash causing closures on U.S. Route 29.

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the northbound right lane and right shoulder are closed on U.S. Route 29 near Brentwood Lane, about half a mile south of State Route 24.

VDOT has yet to provide an estimate of the current delays resulting from this wreck, but the 511 Virginia traffic map shows significantly slowed traffic along U.S. Route 29 North until shortly before the intersection with Phillips Lane.
