AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred in Amherst County on September 8th.
According to VSP, around 2:45 p.m. on Friday, a 2015 Infiniti Q50 driven by 22-year-old Logan G. Corbin of Stuarts Draft was heading east on Route 60 near Route 778. Corbin allegedly crossed the center line and hit a westbound head-on 1986 Chevrolet C15 flatbed pickup truck driven by 64-year-old John K. Cooper of Amherst.
The collision caused the Infiniti to spin off the eastbound side of Route 60 before stopping in a ditch.
Mr. Cooper was flown to UVA Medical Center where he died from his injuries the following morning. VSP says he was not wearing a seat belt. Cooper was also transporting an unidentified 88-year-old male passenger, who was taken nearby hospital for treatment. VSP says he was wearing a seat belt.
The Infiniti driver, Logan Corbin sustained serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. VSP says he was not wearing a seat belt.
VSP says they are still investigating the crash and that charges are pending. WFXR News will continue to update you with new information as it is released.
