BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Multiple fire crews battled a brush fire Monday night in Bedford County.

The fire was reported just before 11:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 6 at 3443 Camden Road in the Big Island area.

Crews arrived to find around two acres on fire that was being fed by gusty winds.

That fire was pushing toward a home in the area as well as a barn with horses in the field.

The Boonsboro Volunteer Fire Company joined the Big Island Volunteer Fire Company to battle the blaze.

It took crews several hours to contain the fire, though the Big Island Volunteer Fire Company says they had issues with smoldering stumps and brush that was being fanned by the gusty winds.
