CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — On April 8th, the Brookville-Timberlake Volunteer Fire Department reported that a person passed away in a house fire on Charldon Road.

According to firefighters, the call came in around 8:34 p.m. on April 7th, for reports of a structure fire on the 200 block of Charldon Road. On the scene, crews found a two-story home with heavy smoke coming from the basement. Firefighters were advised that one person was trapped inside.

Crews immediately began rescue efforts and searched the top floors of the home, while additional crews began fighting the heavy fire in the basement. Once the blaze was under control, crews were able to conduct a second search and located one person who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Campbell County Fire Marshal and Campbell County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
