Campbell County man charged after relative shot amid ‘family dispute,’ authorities say

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A man is facing multiple charges after Campbell County authorities were called out to a domestic dispute that resulted in a shooting on Tuesday.

The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the 4300 block of Lambs Church Road on Tuesday, Dec. 14 to investigate a possible shooting.

After the initial investigation, authorities say they determined there was a “family dispute” and one family member was shot.

The victim was reportedly treated for minor injuries at the scene and brought to the Lynchburg Emergency Department.

According to the sheriff’s office, 59-year-old Randall Rice of Campbell County, was charged with malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony following the shooting. He is being held without bond at the Campbell County Adult Detention Center at this time.

As of Wednesday, Dec. 15, officials say additional charges are pending in connection with this ongoing investigation.
