RUSTBURG, Va. (WFXR) — Officials with Campbell County are working to clean up their region and have created a campaign to do just that.
Local residents, organizations, civic groups and businesses are being asked to come together to be “part of the solution – not the pollution.”
“Keep Campbell County Beautiful” is an awareness program aimed at improving the natural and scenic environment of Campbell County.
The program is a joint venture with the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Keep Virginia Beautiful effort.
Campbell County’s program features a variety of opportunities for everyone to show their care for various roadways, parks, neighborhoods, greenways, waterways and trails throughout the locality, including two county-sponsored activities which can be done either individually or as a group.
“Those interested may visit our website where we can invite them to take the ‘Give Us 5 Pledge’ — five feet, five minutes for five days — to help clean up areas near their homes, places of business, or areas they simply frequent. Sometimes the smallest actions have the largest impact, especially when it is consistent.”Beth Worth, Organizational Relations and Marketing Specialist
The “Keep Campbell County Beautiful” program will work with youth, individuals, businesses, faith-based groups, environmental groups and other agencies to discourage motorists from tossing trash along roadsides.
From outreach activities to an educational campaign, the program encourages residents to secure their loads in order to prevent fly-away trash when hauling to landfill/collection sites, properly dispose of waste, and take proactive ideas and measures to recycle.
