CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A large family in the Amish community reportedly lost their home Thursday evening after a structure fire broke out in Campbell County.

The Red House Volunteer Fire Department says crews from Red House and Brookneal were dispatched on Thursday, April 22 for a structure fire on Lewis Ford Road in Campbell County.

Sincere there were reports of heavy smoke and fire showing, Gladys units were added to the response as well.

According to the department, all occupants were out of the house before crews arrived.

When first responders arrived on scene, they reportedly discovered heavy flames showing throughout the residence, so they split up, deployed two handlines, and started a defensive attack. Once the fire was knocked down, crews spent the next several hours conducting extensive overhaul, fire officials say.

There are no reports of injuries resulting from this fire.

However, a member of the Red House Volunteer Fire Department told WFXR News that home was ruled a total loss, leaving a large family — including some children — in the Amish community displaced. The displaced family is reportedly staying with relatives.

At this time, the department representative says the cause of the fire is still unknown.
