CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Hurt Volunteer Fire Department and the Altavista Fire Company have both reported responding to an overnight commercial fire on Monday, March 20.
They were dispatched around 3 a.m. and arrived at Tuckers Store on the 500 block of Dearing Ford Road to find the single-story gas station with heavy fire from the rear of the building.
The fire has been knocked down, and the following responders assisted in helping crews with the incident as well as the overhaul:
- Campbell County Professional Firefighters
- Hurt Volunteer Fire Department
- Evington Volunteer Fire Department
- Lyn-Dan Heights Volunteer Fire Department
- Gretna Fire & Rescue
- Altavista Police Department
- Dominion Energy
The fire had been contained to the back storage/office area, however, the entire building received heavy damage from the smoke.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Campbell County Fire Marshall’s Office. WFXR News will update you with information as it is released.
