CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Campbell County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several reports of tools stolen from construction sites over the last few weeks. In many instances, the tools were taken from locked box trailers and other locked locations.
The theft of these expensive tools are devastating losses to contractors and their employees.
Recently, one larceny occurred Friday, Sept. 3, around 7:30 p.m. off of Winfall Road at the Dawson Construction site. If you were in this area during this time and saw anything suspicious, you are asked to contact authorities with any information you may have.
Here are a few tips that can help keep your tools safe and possibly help make an arrest:
- The Sheriff’s Office will be patrolling various residences and businesses throughout the county. If you have a house that is under construction and would like to have an officer patrol your property, please call the Sheriff’s Office.
- Cameras, especially remote-style cameras or internet based cameras, are effective for monitoring one’s property and immediately alerting authorities, if needed.
- Take photos of your tools and keep a record of serial numbers
- Mark your tools with your company name, possibly by engraving
Below are pictures of an individual and the front of a truck that were observed at a job site where one of the larcenies took place. While it is no known if the person in the picture is related to any of the larcenies, the Sheriff’s Office is attempting to identify the individual.
