RUSTBURG, Va. (WFXR) – A brushfire made for some nervous hours for nearby residents in Campbell County on Sunday.

According to the Campbell County Public Safety officials, they were told of a brushfire off the 3000 block of Stage Road just after 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Due to weather conditions – namely gusty winds – the fire grew quickly and advanced toward Truline Drive.

Five units responded, however, the fire progressed and burned a single-family home, shed, outbuildings and four vehicles.

No injuries were reported. The Red Cross has been contacted to help the family displaced by the fire.

A detour is currently in place in that area. Citizens are asked to avoid the 3000 block of Stage Road, near Archer Road and between Spencer Road and Columbus Road.

The fire was contained to 10 acres. As of mid-afternoon, all fires were contained and units were working to suppress any remaining hot spots.

Fire crews from Concord, Rustburg, Gladys, Lyn-Dan, Brookville, Timberlake, Brookneal, Monelison, and Appomattox all responded to help fight the fire.
