Brookneal Police investigating recent vandalism, theft, property damage

BROOKNEAL, Va. (WFXR) — Authorities in Campbell County are asking for the public’s help to track down the person(s) responsible for vandalism, theft, and thousands of dollars worth of property damage in Brookneal within the past two weeks.

According to the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office, the Brookneal Police Department is investigating a recent breaking and entering with property damage, which took place at the Brookneal Recreation Association between the evening of Monday, April 5 and the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 14.

Authorities say officers investigated the scene and determined that an unknown subject(s) severed a chained gate and entered the pool area. This entry was followed by major property damage to the location and the theft of several items of miscellaneous value, according officials.

The sheriff’s office says the incident resulted in an estimated $4,000 in damage.

Campbell County authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the person or persons responsible, as well as any information leading to their apprehension or the recovery of the stolen items.
