LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) — The battle is underway in the Lynchburg area for the annual canned food competition.

Each year the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank competes to build structures made entirely out of cans of non-perishable food and then afterward those cans are donated. Unfortunately because of COVID-19, the competition will be virtual.

The teams will instead raise money for the food bank and build virtual designs that will be displayed. This year’s theme is mythical creatures and fairy tales.

According to the food bank’s website, for each dollar that is donated, they can provide approximately four meals. If you would like to donate to this year’s CANstruction competition, just head to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank’s website. Donations will be accepted until Sept. 24.
