Bedford man arrested for strangulation, other charges after Sunday incident at Clayton Nature Center

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Bedford County authorities took a man into custody on Monday for abduction, strangulation, and more following an incident at the Clayton Nature Center from Sunday.

According to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, investigators arrested 45-year-old Michael Shawn Parker of Bedford on Monday, Aug. 30 and charged him with the following offenses:

  • Abduction
  • Felony strangulation
  • Inanimate object sexual penetration
  • Assault and battery on a family member
  • Filing a false police report

Authorities say Parker is being held without bond in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail.

The investigation into the incident at the nature center from Sunday, Aug. 29 is still ongoing as of this writing, officials say.
