Bedford launches town’s first public transportation service starting in September

BEDFORD, Va. (WFXR) – Bedford’s first public transportation service will be launching soon.

On Sept. 1, the Bedford Otter Bus will begin a free six-month pilot program.

The bus will run Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and organizers are excited about the idea of ridership and where they can expand routes.

The partnership for the service is between the Town and Bedford and the Bedford Community Health Foundation.

Bus stops include:

  • Salem Court Apartments
  • Powder Horn Apartments
  • Center Street
  • East Washington Street
  • Bedford Post Office
  • Go Mart
  • Walmart
  • Horizon
  • Food Lion/DOllar General
  • Bedford Memorial Hospital
  • Hampton Ridge Apartments
  • Old Middle School/Library
  • Health Department
  • West Gate
  • John Early Apartments
  • YMCA
