Bedford County Sheriff’s Office mourns loss of former K-9

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office announced the passing of their former K-9, Rex, on Wednesday.

Authorities say Rex was a patrol K-9 who initially served with Deputy Desilvey. Most recently, Rex served under Capt. Hatcher before retiring in September 2018.

According to the sheriff’s office, the dog was 14 years old when he died on Wednesday, April 21.

“K-9 Rex was a valuable member of the Sheriff’s Office and the community he served, and will be greatly missed,” the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook on Wednesday.
