BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — On Tuesday evening, the Bedford County School Board approved revisions to the district’s budget for 2022-2023, which includes “much deserved” raises for all employees, according to school officials.

Bedford County Public Schools says all employees will receive at least a 4% increase in pay, but many of them will also receive restoration steps that were frozen during the recession, including the district’s most experienced teachers, transportation staff, nutrition workers, custodial services, bus drivers, and paraprofessionals.

In addition to the pay increase, school officials say the revised budget includes a $1,000 bonus — which will be paid in December — for all employees who are under contract as of Dec. 1.
