Barn and silo full of corn catches fire in Bedford County, several fire crews respond

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — On Wednesday, fire crews from several stations helped to extinguish a structure fire in the 1400 block of Bashford Drive in Bedford County.

The Bedford Fire Department posted on Facebook on Wednesday, May 12 they responded to a report of smoke in the area at 7:19 a.m. When crews arrived on the scene, they found a barn with heavy fire throughout and a 150′ tall silo full of corn on fire.

Due to the instability of the silo, fire crews used a defensive attack.

Crews from the Montvale Fire Department, Forest Volunteer Fire Department, Stewartsville Volunteer Fire Department, and Moneta Volunteer Fire Department aided the Bedford Fire Department in extinguishing the fire.
