APPOMATTOX, Va. (WFXR) – Following a recruitment process, town officials have filled its town manager position.
Richard Terry McGhee was appointed by Town Council to fill the vacant role.
“After a long and detailed process, we have found the person we believe will execute the vision of the Town of Appomattox for the future, Mr. Richard “Terry” McGhee. The Town Council and I are confident the selection of Mr. McGhee will greatly benefit the Town, its citizens, and businesses moving forward in these changing and challenging times”, said Mayor Richard C. Conner.
The town began recruitment efforts last December 2021 with candidates applying from all across the Commonwealth and in Florida and Missouri.
Richard Terry McGee has worked at Longwood University since 2016 as Director of the ITS Project Management Office. He is an internationally-certified Project Management Professional. In addition to being Citadel alumni McGee obtained his master’s degree in Information Technology from The Air Force Institute of Technology.
“Appomattox is an incredible town of nationally historic importance; I am so honored to be selected for this position and look forward to becoming an active part of its future”, said McGhee.
McGhee’s appointment begins May 1, 2022.
