APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A student was taken into custody after allegedly making a verbal threat at Appomattox County High School on Thursday morning.

Sheriff Donald Simpson with the Appomattox Sheriff’s Office says they received the call around 10:30 a.m. on May 11. Out of precaution, the high school was placed on lockdown as deputies searched the campus.

Simpson tells WFXR that no weapon was found during their search, but they did locate the student that allegedly made the threat.

They were taken into custody, and deputies say that charges against them are pending.

The lockdown was lifted once the scene was cleared. WFXR News will update you with additional information as it is released.
