Amherst County Schools offering free COVID-19 vaccination, testing clinic Tuesday before secondary schools reopen

Lynchburg & Central Virginia News

AMHERST COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Before students return to the classrooms Thursday at Amherst County’s secondary schools — which were temporarily shut down due to COVID-19 — the school district is offering the chance for students to get tested for the virus and/or get vaccinated against the virus on Tuesday.

School officials want to make sure students are safe and healthy to return and are asking secondary students to provide a negative test PCR or Antigen result for the virus before coming back to school on Thursday, Sept. 2.

In order to help with this requirement, Amherst County Public Schools is providing a free testing and vaccination clinic on Tuesday, Aug. 31 from noon to 8 p.m. at two sites.

Those who are interested in the clinic must pre-register by using one of the forms: Monelison Registration form or Amherst County High School Registration form. Students, staff, parents, and siblings are all eligible to participate.

There are two clinic sites available for free testing and vaccination.
