19-year-old charged with murder after Sunday night shooting in Campbell County, authorities say

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — A man is currently facing murder charges after Campbell County deputies were called out to a shooting Sunday night.

The Campbell County Sheriff’s Office says a call came in shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 29 indicating that a man had been shot. 

Deputies were then dispatched to 461 Buffalo Lane in Evington, which is the home of the victim — Lawrence Keith Taylor — who is now dead.

After a thorough investigation, authorities say they arrested 19-year-old Matthew Isaac Critchley and charged him with the following:

  • Second degree murder
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony

Critchley is currently being held without bond at the Campbell County Adult Detention Center, according to officials.
