CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Virginia State Police says a 17-year-old girl has passed away in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on the Brookneal Highway on March 28th.

According to police, just before 8 a.m. on Tuesday, a 17-year-old from Gladys was traveling north in a 2002 Ford Mustang, when she ran off the right side of the road. Investigators believe she attempted to overcorrect, crossed the center line, and hit a 2014 GMC Sierra, driven by Kyle A. Beavon, 29, of Rustburg traveling south. Beavon was not injured in the crash.

The teenager was pronounced dead at the scene.

State Police say the investigation is ongoing but, have determined that both drivers were wearing seatbelts. WFXR News will continue to update you with any new information as it is released.
