UPDATE 5:16 a.m. (7/19/22): A minor is facing multiple charges — including attempted murder — in connection with a Monday afternoon incident in Nelson County that left a man and a minor hurt.

According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, the underage individual was charged with the following crimes following the fight and shooting that took place along Grape Lawn Drive in Lovingston on Monday, July 18:

  • Two counts of attempted first-degree murder
  • Shooting at or throwing missiles at a vehicle
  • Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
  • Malicious wounding
  • Felonious property damage
  • Reckless handling of a firearm

Officials say the minor — whose name has not been released — is currently being held at the Lynchburg Detention Center.

As of this writing, the investigation into Monday’s incident is reportedly still ongoing.

NELSON COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that led to one man and one minor getting hurt on Monday.

On the afternoon of Monday, July 18, deputies say they received a complaint of a disorder and shots fired in the 2100 block of Grape Lawn Drive in Lovingston. When they arrived, they found evidence of a fight and gunshots into a car.

According to the sheriff’s office, one man and one minor were injured during the fight. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Authorities say they took one person into custody in connection with the incident.

Deputies tell WFXR News this was “an isolated incident” and there is no threat to the community. The case remains under investigation.
