Local group opposing repeal of Obamacare

Local News

Approximately three miles of handmade paper linked chains covered the field of Bissett Park in Radford today to symbolize the people who will could be affected if Obamacare is repealed.

According to NRV Indivisible, each of the 62,000 links represents a person in the Ninth Congressional District who will lose health care if the new Republican health care plan goes into affect.

The co-chair of NRV indivisible says “We’ve encouraged him (Representative Morgan Griffith) to have town halls and he has not been willing to do that so we are joining together to just make a bigger statement to him that we are watching and we do not appreciate that he is not caring about how many people this affects”.

When completed participants broke the chain into pieces, and are going to deliver it to Representative Griffith who has supported the new health care plan.
