LEXINGTON, Va. (WFXR) — A local Blue Ridge brewery is looking for one lucky hiker to take on the Appalachian Trail and drink plenty of beer. They’ll also get paid $20,000 to do it.
Devils Backbone Brewing Company is accepting applications for their “Chief Hiking Officer.”
The position requires the person to hike the entire 2,200 mile Appalachian Trial from Georgia to Maine. Devils Backbone will outfit their Chief Hiking Officer with gear, fly them to the trail head, and “throw some big ol’ beer parties along the way.”
The position comes with a $20,000 stipend and free travel to the trail head.
The brewing company estimates it will take five to seven months to complete the hike, which starts in 2021.
