ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — LewisGale Regional Health Systems will hold its third annual ‘Crush the Crisis’ event on Saturday in order to educate the public and raise awareness about the dangers of opioid misuse and the proper disposal of medications.
LewisGale facilities in Roanoke County, Covington, Pulaski County, and Montgomery County will take part at the following locations from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23:
- LewisGale Medical Center Cave Spring ER at 2706 Ogden Road in Cave Spring
- LewisGale Hospital Alleghany at the Walmart at 313 Thacker Avenue in Covington
- LewisGale Hospital Pulaski at the Food City at 1400 Bob White Boulevard in Pulaski
- LewisGale Hospital Montgomery at 3700 South Main Street in Blacksburg
You can attend any of the locations listed above to safely and anonymously dispose any unused or expired prescriptions.
“This is really one of several methods that we’re using to do our part in the opioid epidemic. We do things such as enhanced surgical recovery in our hospital and also alternatives to opioids in our ER,” said LewisGale Director of Pharmacy Trey Akridge.
Last year, LewisGale hospitals collected more than 700 pounds of unused or expired medications.
