Delegate Chris Hurst unveiled new legislation Wednesday that is aimed at preventing workplace violence.

A statement from the Democrat lawmaker’s office said House Bill 1457 would provide civil immunity to employers who share information about violence or threatened violent behavior by current or former employees with potential employers or law enforcement officials.

Hurst was directly impacted by workplace violence in 2015 when Alison Parker and Adam Ward were shot and killed at Smith Mountain Lake during a live broadcast.
