Lawmakers look to use funds to renovate older schools in Virginia

Local News

(WFXR) – This summer, state and local lawmakers will participate in a “Crumbling Schools Tour.”

A coalition of small and rural schools say the tour is aimed at giving lawmakers a firsthand account of the conditions students and staff face on a daily basis.

The tour begins on Tuesday in King and Queen County but officials are also planning on touring schools in Radford, New Castle and South Boston.

Some lawmakers are looking to use a portion of COVID relief funds to renovate older schools.
