A man accused of murdering a motel owner in Roanoke will face a jury in September.

Timothy Church is accused of holding two women hostage and beating the Starlite Motel owner to death with a baseball bat.

Police were called out to the 4400 block of Melrose Avenue NW for a reported robbery on January 23. That’s where they found Church standing over the two women, and 60-year-old Ishvarlal Patel who was dead on the floor.

Church ran from police when they forced their way into the room, but he was later captured.

His hearing is scheduled September 12.
