BLAND, Va. (WFXR) – An inmate at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Washington County has filed a complaint alleging his civil rights were violated while incarcerated at another jail.
George Buckles claims he broke his hand back in March of 2019 while behind bars at the Bland Correctional Facility.
Buckles also claims he notified prison staff, but it was around another month before he was taken to a doctor.
According to a court filing, Buckles says he was sent to a hospital in Radford where he was told that his broken bones had already begun to heal and that the doctor was confused by the delay from prison officials.
Buckles claims he cannot use his hand anymore and is requesting a trial by jury as well as $2 million.
