Hundreds of homes without power in southwest Virginia

(WFXR) — Hundreds of households face Wednesday morning power outages in southwest Virginia as severe weather moves through the region.

AEP says at least 946 homes are without power in our area as of 8:15 a.m. The reported outages are located in the following areas:

  • Amherst County: 375
  • Nelson County: 289
  • Bedford County: 85
  • Campbell County: 71
  • Roanoke County: 53
  • Botetourt County: 40
  • Lynchburg 15
  • Henry County: 13
  • Roanoke City: 5

According to AEP, Danville and Pittsylvania County each report less than five outages.

While AEP says several outages are still being assessed, others have estimated restoration times between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
