The Chautauqua Balloon Festival in Wytheville was graced with fair weather on Friday, and balloons inflated for the 35th Anniversary of the Chautauqua Festival.
Participants will be able to talk to pilots about their balloons and how they are flown. On Friday, around 8:30 p.m., a balloon glow will be held. Hot air balloons will be illuminated against the night sky for spectators to view.
Music, inflatables, food trucks, and concessions will also take place at the three-day festival.
Friday’s opening event will be held at Wytheville Community College and last from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. Hot air balloon flights will take place Saturday and Sunday. The festival will be held at Elizabeth Brown Memorial Park.
A parade will be happening on Saturday at 10 a.m. The parade line up will begin at 9 a.m. on West Main Street beside the Super Dollar in Wytheville.
This event is weather permitting and may be canceled or limited in length due to inclement weather or winds above 10 knots.
