Homestead Creamery issues voluntary recall of glass bottle products due to sanitation process issue

WIRTZ, Va. (WFXR) – Homestead Creamery has announced a voluntary recall of its glass-bottled products due to a suspected issue with the bottle sanitizing process.

According to the company, a strong sanitizing odor may affect the taste and quality of the product.

There is no known health risk associated with the issue at this time.

These returnable bottles were distributed in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, New Jersey and New York in October via retail stores, direct delivery, and wholesale distributors.

The shipment of these affected products began on Oct. 15.

The company says eggnog and custard round, non-returnable glass bottles with a best-buy date of Nov. 15 were distributed to Fresh Market stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. The shipment of these products began on Oct. 14.

The best-by date is located on the side of the bottle cap.

No serious illnesses have been reported in connection with the voluntary recall.

Consumers should return the product to the location of purchase for a full refund.
