Highlanders Festival returns to Radford University after 5-year hiatus

RADFORD, Va. (WFXR) – The skirl of bagpipes will return to Radford University for the 23rd Radford Highlanders Festival on Saturday, October 12.

Thousands of folks are expected to enjoy music and fun from the heart of R.U.’s campus which celebrates the Scots-Irish heritage of the region.

There will be two main stage musical acts performing. Scythian, a Celtic/folk-rock band from Washington, D.C. and CrossBow, a Midwestern Celtic rock band will be on-hand at the festival.

The Heavyweight Games, sheep-herding, Scottish clans, entertainers, children’s games and pipe and drum bands will once again bring visitors in for a day of fun.

A wide array of vendors will also be at the festival, serving up authentic Scottish fare, classic festival food and American classics.
