Gray execution set for tonight

Local News

A convicted murderer is making a last attempt to save his life.
Attorneys for Ricky Gray asked the U.S. Supreme Court to stop his execution scheduled for tonight.
Gray is scheduled to die by lethal injection for the 2006 murders of Bryan and Kathryn Harvey and their daughters, nine-year-old Stella and four-year-old Ruby in Richmond.
Governor Terry McAuliffe declined to intervene.
Attorneys for Gray filed an emergency application Tuesday, saying the Virginia Department of Corrections plans to carry out an “experimental and unconstitutional method of execution.”
Virginia has never used the drug it plans to use in tonight’s procedure.
The Commonwealth says the drugs are made by companies that meet federal and state regulations and were never cited for any violations.
