Empire Bakery announced today that it will invest ten-point-four million dollars to expand its facility in Rocky Mount – which will create 75 new jobs in the area.
The Franklin County location was selected over other options in Utah, Texas, Arizona, and Oklahoma.
Governor Ralph Northam was present for the announcement, as well as other Franklin County leaders and Empire Bakery employees.
Rocky Mount Mayor Steve Angle says the expansion is not only a huge win for his town, but for the entire region, too.
“It means a whole lot for the governor to take time out of his busy schedule to be here. It says a lot that the Commonwealth of Virginia is also excited for Empire Foods to expand here,” he said.
Empire Bakery provided several cakes for the event, and treated the employees to some free Homestead Creamery ice cream afterward.
