In his State of the Commonwealth Address, Governor Terry McAuliffe praised his team for the work they have done creating jobs and economic growth in the Commonwealth.
The governor also talked about education, helping veterans find work, traffic projects and the work his administration has done to combat cyber security.
McAuliffe spoke about change he would like to see in the state including the reform of the mental health system and the drug abuse epidemic.
He also spoke about legislation which would help with financial aid for students.
During his term as governor, business leaders in the Roanoke Valley say he’s made visits to show his interest in building Virginia’s economy.
“As of tonight, we’ve helped close 853 new economic development deals worth $14.23 billion in capital investment. That is nearly five billion dollars more than any administration in Virginia history,” said Gov. Terry McAuliffe.
The Governor also talked about taking the unemployment rate in Virginia from 5.4 percent to 3.7 percent, which is the steepest decline in a governor’s term in 32 years.
