A man is in custody after assaulting a police officer on Sunday morning in Giles County.
According to the sheriff’s office, 25-year-old Trey Amari Cummings is facing charges because he became violent with police.
Authorities were called to the 500 block of Staffordsville Hill road around 9 a.m. for reports of suspicious activity.
Cummings was detained for questioning on possession of drug paraphernalia, but violently struggled against authorities in the process. One deputy was treated for a broken finger, but has since been released.
Cummings is now facing charges of possession, obstruction of justice, and two counts of assault on a law enforcement officer.
