In Franklin County, the Sheriff’s Office now has a new place to safely exchange items.
This safe zone is in the parking lot behind the jail.
Officers say this makes it easily accessible for emergency response.
The Sheriff says it’s mainly used for custody drop offs for children and exchanges when you buy something online from Craig’s List.
“Knowing that there’s a monitor that people are usually seeing what’s happening and certainly if something did go wrong or someone needed assistance that they feel, feel good he fact that there would be a quick response,” said Sheriff Bill Overton, Jr. with Franklin County.
He says the zone has been in place since August of 2016 and was inexpensive to install.
